On  Friday the LHS had a BNSF Ice Cold Express stolen out of their shop. Last night a fellow OGR forum member was checking eBay and just happened to see a new in box BNSF Ice Cold Express set on sale in Salt Lake (about 30 miles south of us) at a substantial mark down.

Since this other forum member can usually add 2+2 together and get a number close to 4,  he let the LHS owner know about the eBay auction this AM. A couple hours later the auction was pulled and then about an hour later the detective arrived back at the LHS with the engine in hand with only the wrapping removed.

Glad to see this turn out good for the LHS, losing a high dollar set like that would not be good. I think the LHS Owner owes him a Mexican Coke, maybe two

FWIW I did offer the LHS the same price it was listed on eBay for, he declined, I guess I should have bought it for the BIN price last night.

As far as I know they are

Hi Chris, this is very good news and good for the person who spotted the set on the net. I know blessings will come to them for being so diligent and caring.

As for the low down, no good piece of human waste that took anothers livelihood that did not belong to them all I can say is that you may think your getting over in life, but your not.

I think he was referring to Mexican Coca-Cola.  It is growing in popularity in the U.S. so much that there is even a web site devoted to helping people find it.

The reason it is so popular is that it is made with sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup as the sweetener, so it tastes much better (and more like original Coke, before the New Coke fiasco/trick).  Plus, it comes in the old-fashioned style glass Coke bottles.  I buy it for myself as a treat every now and again (I'm lucky enough to be able to get it at my local grocery store in the ethnic foods aisle).

You can also get it in 2 Liter bottles around passover as "Kosher Coke". You can ID this by the yellow cap. Mexican Coke may or may not be made with real sugar. The Kosher stuff is guaranteed.

Mexican coke is just that, Coke from Mexico. Like Andy said it has sugar instead of corn syrup. I recently lost a bet for one with the same OGR forum member who found the engine on eBay so I know he drinks it They also have Mexican Sprite and Fanta now in the stores. Good stuff. As for Kosher Coke haven't had any luck finding it in Utah.

This is just my personal theory, but I think that the whole New Coke deal was just a marketing ploy to cover up the switch from sugar to corn syrup in the "Classic" Coke.  The New Coke was so awful that when they "brought back" "Classic" Coke (with corn syrup now in place of the sugar), people had been distanced enough from the Coke made with sugar that they didn't notice the difference.

The nice thing about the Mexican Coke is that it is available year round, where I think the Kosher Coke is only available during the Passover season.  Personally, I've never seen the Kosher Coke in stores in my area, which is funny, since there is a large Kosher section in the same grocery store where I get my Mexican Coke, Sprite, Fanta and some native Mexican brands like Jarritos.  All of it tastes so good that I rarely drink any sodas with corn syrup any more.  It kind of gives me the same warm fuzzy feeling that running trains gives me, only with more calories.

Andy,
I guess that tells you how old I am.
That was the same bottle it was in when I was a kid.  15 cents if you drank it at the store 25 cents if you took it with you.
No tax Virginia tax didn't start till you got to 26 cents.
And the drinks weren't luke warm they were cold enough to burn your teeth.

The Kosher Coca-Cola will be in the aisle with all the other sodas - I've never come across it in the Kosher aisle of stores that carry it.  Look for yellow or white caps with printing on top (OU-P on the yellow caps, CRC-P on the white caps).  The printing designates who certified the Coke as Kosher for Passover.
