I am working on a Lionel Challenger (legacy) that is stuck in reverse.

Look for a broken wire on your run/program switch.
Throw out a bit more info such as the product number and has it been checked in Legacy and conventional. Also the chain of events that led up to this situation. Heve you pulled and reseated the R4LC board and pulled and reseated the plugs on the driver board?
The best I can tell the product number is 6-28064 the customer brought it in a M.T.H. box and bought it second hand. Just now put it on the tracks to double check if it did it in both as I didn't remember and smoke started to come out of the loco so I shut it down.
Check the handrails that they are not grounding out in the front of the boiler. The rails are supposed to go in a nylon gromet on the deck. If they are touching metal, the engine will go in it's last state of direction and you will not be able to access it. What is the cab number?
I will not touch anything someone purchases off ebay. I feel so bad when someone buys something they thought was the buy of a lifetime and it is junk.
Can't agree with you more about e-bay. The board with the DCDS chip smoked. Hope Lionel has parts. Thanks for the great information.
They will have that. What is the cab number?
