The pink stuff is called Owens Corning Foamular. Did you check your store's web site? Most HD stores have this in stock.
The HD here all ways has a ton of it on hand and in diff thickness. The white stuff you seen there is bead board. It can be very messy when cutting it and the beads stick to everything. If you want to use foam I would look for the pink foam. Good luck finding some. Nick
I find the blue-board variety at Lowe's in several thicknesses. Take a sharp knife along and you can score it and break big sheets into small enough pieces to put in your car trunk or minivan. I use 1/2 inch thick as the base for all my layouts now.
Lowes or Depot all sell it. that also depends in the climate. CA and lower states may not have it unless contractors are using it there.
I use the 2" white and use a Hot knife. no beads to worry with the hot knife and its cheap and cuts faster than the Foamular. though Iwould use the pink stuff if you are building structural bridges or on the surface of the platform. but mountain building I use the white stuff. I use thin coats of sheetrock compound (green bucket)
