I have a section of the layout that is an elevated semi-circle. I could not do it with fixed radius curves. I had to do it with some Gar Graves flex to make it work smoothly. With that done, i'm ready to replace the good old 2x4 blocks that holds it up. I really like the deck plate which shows the entire train in cluding the ties that overlap the outside girder bridge plates. I need to make a large template to take out to my wood shop(garage) for making a smooth subroadbed cut. If i can use the outer rails as my width, the template will be easier to make. The span in its entirity will be about 9 feet. I'll be using 1/2 inch plywood as the subroadbed.  Can I use those outer rails as the width or do I need to make it wider? Thanks for any feedback.

Will your box girder bridge be inverted?   If you already have the bridge, make a quick mock-up to see the effect you want.  If your plywood is too narrow larger engines may appear ready to roll off the track.  With just girders and a plate on top there would need to be a walk way at least on the fireman's side.

Make a protractor dial with a long strip of plywood (or yard stick) to mark your radii on the plywood.

Using the outside of the rails for width should be OK.  I tried to center my rails on the girder, but the box ended up a little wider.

Bridge ties are usually longer (10') and thicker (8" x 8") compared to normal ties.

You can slide some longer ties in between the flex track ties every so often to support a walkway as done IRL.
