I was operating my R142A the other day, andate lights on all 5 cars kept flickering and the train one time got to a certain part of the track and just shut off. And sometimes when I turn on the train and I press direction it restarts.

sounds like dirty track , wheels or pickup rollers to me
Check for a loose track connection and or a loose wire somewhere as those are the two most logical electrical problems.

That sounds like a battery that needs to be recharged or replaced.
Couldn't be the battery since it was all 5 cars. Sounds like dirty track.
