When I was standing next to Mike Wolf (MTH) at the NJ High Railers in January, 2011 the question was put to him about what subway cars his company might be issuing next. His answer was IRT Deck Roof Cars. I then suggested to him about doing BMT Triplex Subway Cars (the 6000 series that operated from 1928-1965.) Mike said that he was aware that others have suggested them and the he has information sent to his company about them.

I would also like models of the latest subways cars such as the R-160s

I have also spoken to Mike Wolf and Andy Edelman about doing the BMT Triplex cars on several occasions and at several yorks. I also suggested how they could make Gate cars from the Q car design. The Gate cars would be good models i think since they are an interesting design, require no TA logo and operated on both the IRT and BMT as well as similar cars on other transit systems. They could be correct with trolley poles as well.

The first three photos show the BMT Q cars as they were rebuilt by the museum into something close to their original configuration as BU gate cars. When originally constructed in 1904 , the cars had a higher clerestory roof.

The last photo is interesting as it shows three of the first convertibles used on the Brooklyn system. The cars had removable side panels which were removed during the warm months. There were curtains which could be pulled down when it rained. These cars date to the turn of the century and usually worked the likes of the Culver line to the Beaches. The train in the photo is on the 5th Ave El heading towards downtown Brooklyn . Since the panels are still in place, its probably just before or after summer. These cars survived until 1947 or so. None were preserved.

I'll vote for anything CTA. Some 4000's would be fantastic, or maybe some 2000's. Heck, even a re-issue of the 6000's would be fine by me ... I just need more CTA! Or, crazy thought, some North Shore or CA&E (granted, 3rd rail did North Shore but kind of spendy for the 3 car set ... too much $$$ for me).

I need something/anything ... actually can run a train now: http://ctalayout.blogspot.com/
