I guess just about every subject has been discussed many times over on this site, but after our club building several of own track cleaning cars described in magazine articles which didn't work very well, we are looking for new and additional information on this subject. I didn't know it wasn't permitted or suggested to reopen a topic on this site, if that's true I guess the whole site  should have closed long ago. Thanks, to those who gave their suggestions though.

That's the one I use most frequently.  I do a pretty good job of regularly cleaning the track on my layouts, so never really have had a problem with any kind of significant build-up on rails or wheels.  I just hook-up the track-cleaning gondola from Pat's and drag it along the railroad a couple of times.  That seems to do a fine job.
