This seems like something I should be able to figure out but...

I have two loops with crossovers.  I am following the approach of laying gargraves flex track on cork roadbed and all is going well but, what can I do when I need to get a piece of flex into a space between two existing pieces of track (like the last piece in my oval)?  This worked great with HO track and rail joiners as you could slide the joiners out of the way and put the track in from the top.  But with these pins I cannot figure out how to do this without really distorting the track and forcing the pins etc.

Can you please suggest an (or many) approaches?

Thanks and apologies for what seems like a stupid question (but not covered in either O guage layout book I have).

Alternative is to file or clip the wings off the center of the track pins so that they’re just straight sided. Stuff the pins almost all the way in the last piece, leave it a little short. When you drop it in, grab the pins lightly with a pair of side cutting pliers and you should be able to slide them back. If the rail gap is too big and the train bangs over it, you can fill the height difference with solder.
