Here are pictures of the Suncoast 200 ton coal tower that I just completed. I was glad to see that they are now available through JV Models. I changed the model by using Plastruct handrails and stairs. This meant adding another platform. I also used Grandtline windows, door and pulley wheels. Another addition was the dump pit for under the tower. under the tower.

I had Stu custom build and modify a Suncoast 200 ton concrete coal dock for our layout, and he did a great job. I wanted two tracks for fueling coal burning steam locomotives, with the coal supply being to the outside on a separate track.
Thanks Stu.
I have this kit, but really want an all wood kit, and about half its size, for a shortline....with just one coal bunker. I am thinking about modifying it severely to achieve that...but...is is not near the top of the list...

I can make a scratch built chama tower pictured here or Raggs to Riches sells a laser cut kit. He lists it on the raggs to riches web site. his is a narrow gauge so would have to be raised 1 1/2" for o scale trains.

You did a great job building this coaling tower. It gave me great ideas. I am building this same kit and using Plastruct stairs and railings. Where did you grated pieces for your dump pit?

Nick, The tower was around 40 hours. The longest time to build one structure was 136 hours, to scratch build the Williamson WV coal bunker. To build this I used drawings of the top convener rooms and photos of the rest of the structure.
