Good Morning Everyone,

I will start off with a model I constructed in the past. It is a model of a steel storage tank that has just been constructed and not painted yet. This was one of my favorite models to construct because I feel I captured the look of what I have experienced in the field. Lets see what you have been working on.P1020838 [1)P1020838P1020839 [1)P1020839

Kits by American Model Builders

These pictures show four structures that I built from kits by American Model Builders – also known as Laserkit. The first six pictures below show my three versions of their “Yard Office” kit. The last picture shows my version of their “Sonny’s Shack” kit. I have found these kits to be of excellent quality and I think that they assemble into good-looking models. I like the staircase and rafter tails on the “Yard Office” model. First three pictures on my 10’-by-5’ layout completed in 2019. Others on the 12’-by-8’ completed in 2004. Both layouts were subjects of articles in O Gauge Railroading magazine.

If you build it, they will come. LOL

I was going to make my 2nd baseball field into Field of Dreams. Even bought O scale corn stalks for it. Then, I realized there are no trains in Field of Dreams. Then, the thought occurred to me that the Polo Grounds was near trains and a train station, as well as Yankee Stadium, which I already had, so I scratch built my model of the Polo Grounds:

After which I refurbished old Yankee Stadium:

Peaking through Yankee Stadium window to see the game. LOL

Your work is inspirational.  The attention to detail is what makes your models look prototypical.  May I ask how you do the stairs? Great work. Always enjoy this thread.  Keep up the good work.

Paul

Paul,

Thank you. It is very rewarding to inspire people to construct models.

For the stairway, I made a template that I lay against the tank that I trace onto the tank. The stair treads are cut and scribed and individually placed on the tank. I use a .040 inch square stock post on each one, and then add a .020  x .060 inch strip for the handrail. The steps and posts are placed on the tank and glued with plastruct bondene glue.
