This will be the day of tributes to the firefighters Don. I have added an MTH fire house which will be a tribute to those who were friends of my Father and me as well for those in Olive Hill. I shared this house before as the windows were trimmed but this time the house is setting in the permanent spot and connected to the transformer. I added exterior lighting to show off the building at night, my favorite time to operate the layout.
Your house interior is great Don and the brass pole as well. I’m certain your bridge adds so much to its permanent spot as well Alan. Have a great Sunday guys
Great stuff so far, gentlemen!
This is where I left off last week.....
The wooden struts are delicate and a bit of sanding of the apertures was necessary.....
Slow progress.....
Finally done......
Truckport cover.....the pieces of would were cut to fit and stained at the beginning....
Tar paper roof applied....
1st stairwell.......
Have a great Sunday and coming week, everyone!
Peter
A Great start this week.
Alan, great looking bridge.
Anthony, your house is coming along. Roofs tend to be my downfall. Many wait years to get completed. Seeing it’s a home. Tarpaper is probably not an option. I usually use peel and stick shingles from Bollinger Edgerly Trains. We had our roof replaced last year. Took me longer to do my passenger station than it did for the work crew to apply shingles to a real one.
Don, that Firehouse came out really nice. You even modeled the stairs going up to the second floor. Just great attention to detail.
Peter, I love following along on your builds. That looks like quite an involved kit with a lot of delicate pieces that need patience to get through each step. I love tools. I always notice your array of clamps and such. I couldn’t help but notice the framing square. Perfect size, easy to read numbers and I like the little notch where the square meets up. Just the thing for your knife blade to end up if your cutting using the inside portion. Even a hole to hang it on a peg. Could you share the maker of it.
Great work everyone! I love the detail on the fire house interior Don...
Thanks for the positive reinforcement gentlemen! I share work with my waybill driven operations group but don’t always think to put some of these structures out there. I get a lot of good ideas from many posters on this thread and others.
Build onward!!!!!!
Anthony,
The bridge is about 5 feet long. Your house is looking great.
Don,
Great work on the firehouse. The interior is beautiful.
John,
I like the video. Nice tribute.
Peter,
You are perfecting a new craft my friend.
Nice work all. Thank you for sharing and making this another great Sunday Scenic Showcase.

Dave.......thank you so much. The square is the standard off-the-rack item that Home Depot sells.

An overall view of the On30 Utacolzona Railroad.
If you want to see how I built the layout from start to almost finished Utacolzona On30 Railroad, go to...

Al,
Is your bridge designed to be removable or permanently mounted? If removable, how did you build the substructure?
Don
I constructed it for a customer. The bridge is three pieces and were four piers.

Dave, Yes, I plan to shingle the roof. I purchased shingles from Altoona Model Works and I started preparing them.
I used them on this building a while ago. I’ll try to keep them flatter and straighter on the house!
