I just finished the third module of the refinery. The completed piping going to the right will go to the next module that will contain three smaller distillation towers.

Hello Guys. Well its been one of those weeks. I had a hospital visit wear I had to drive 75 miles into Chicago wear I had to see the Transplant DR. It will be 5 years since I had a Kidney Transplant. Now they want to have me decrees the rejection drug & it means going and having blood work for the next month every week. Well back to the trains.
Well when I grabed the paint I grabed this Enamel. Well the drying Time is 24 hours. I have it and I used it now I am waiting for it to dry. If any one wants to offer tips on weathering I am up to listening like weathering powders, India inks, maybe I can make a list of things I will need. Thanks 
I am working on a somewhat unique refinery for a fellow in New Zealand. The furnace stack colors are alternating red and white - I believe for safety reasons). The bottoms of the towers are brick enclosures. So far the refinery consists of a two stage desalting tank unit that feeds the crude oil furnace. From there the crude enters the large distillation tower (CD-1). Product from CD-1 travels to the structures on the platform (condensers and accumulators) and finally to a 'mixing valve' then off to storage. There is also a filter on the top floor that separates gas from oil. The gas either goes to a flare tower or to another structure for processing.
The two smaller distillation towers are 'side strippers' that take product from CD-1 through heat exchangers and further refine it before going to product storage (I believe light and heavy kerosene). I still need to build two small reboilers for the strippers.

The Korber buildings are looking good especially the kit bash.
WRT weathering I usually apply several coats of an india ink wash to dull down the mortar color. I then follow up with powders (black / rust etc) but very light.
It looks like the roof on the kit bash is going to be flat. You may want to try the following. Paint the roof black then either let it dry, spray with diluted white glue or matt medium and sprinkle on N scale black ballast or sprinkle on the ballast while the paint is wet. Either way once dry you will need to spray again. This gives you a really nice looking gravel roof. Sometimes I will overspray with a texture paint that has black and white flakes in it.

Joe As you know these are my 1st 2 kits that I started about a month ago. I like the information you gave me as Tips. Just about 2 hours ago I ordered the 2 kits of weathering powders which will be in the mail this weekend to next Monday. So again thank you for the tips. I need to dull down the Roberts Brick Mortar.
