Good Morning Everyone,
I will start off with a model of my childhood house I constructed for my mother in the past. Lets see what you have been working on.

Good morning Alan,
I haven’t been on the Forum for a while and am not sure if I’ve posted these photos before. But here goes.
This cabin sits atop the hill at the northeast corner of my 12’-by-8’ layout completed in 2004. I built it from a kit but don’t recall the manufacturer. Its position at the rear corner of the layout effectively makes it a background building.

Finally got my conveyor painted. It was built using brass stock soldered together. I had to search the layout for a pickup with a working tailgate. The figure is from Model Tech. I also scratch built a coal bin.
A view of the layout from the sitting area. The buildings on the foreground shelves will go on a to be built waterfront are circled in red on the photo:
A panoramic view from a corner.:
I took home this new VO1000 and gave it the 3Rs treatment. It is the ugliest engine I own. I love it!
Changing the background on a section of Schenectady from mountain to concrete jungle. Gives more right of way sight line heading to mountain area. Part of my covid therapy as a last responder.. We're getting there stay tuned.

VERY nicely done, Alan! What a great tribute and gift to your mother!

A nice structure for background OR foreground, Mel!

Nicely done, Ron! A true scratchbuild, which makes it distinctive and unique. This kind of project would make an excellent "how-to" for the magazine. I can always use that type of article.

Nicely executed, Dave! A great scenic detail.

That is one gorgeous layout, Pete! Beautiful!

I believe there is a VO1000 in another livery with my name on it waiting at your shop, Dave! Let me know when I might be able to retrieve it.

A darn fine example of making good use of your Covid quarantine time, my friend! Looks great!

Wholly cow... I did not even notice that until you pointed it out.

That is definitely coming along nicely, Steve! Looking forward to seeing the finished project in place on the layout.
Great pics everyone. Thought i'd share a few photo's I took about 2 years ago when visiting the Stamford Model Railroad Club in Connecticut. Really nice layout despite missing the middle rail. Nice group of guys gave a first rate tour of the RR.
Great post and I learn something new every Sunday.
Dave, I love ugly locos and that one is really nice.
I got some scenery done on my layout. I still have to get figures and vehicles in place. My layout is only 12 x 16 but it is all the real estate I could get at this time. That is one of the reasons I went with my favorite Mississippi shortline. I’m not sure about my painted cotton field yet but I still have plenty of blue paint.

Brother Love, the art work background is really really good. I enjoy viewing your scenes.

Steve,
Nice pictures of the Stamford club. I did the sand tower and the oil tanks for them in the pictures you posted.
Alan and all, just spectacular showcase, Wow !!

Great stuff, everyone!

That is QUITE the cabin'... Mel, but I wouldn't want to slip off that porch'....😃
Alan, the house is gorgeous and I'm sure your mother thought so too. Totally a wonderful gift. Also I thought those tanks in the other post were probably yours.
Melgar, the house is wonderful but the added foundation gives it a lot of character.
Dave, I think your "ugly" diesel is beautifully 3RSed. Scenery in the background is awesome.
Pete, every time you post it's a treat. Can't wait to see the harbor.
Brother Love, I can't believe you say your scenery work isn't that good. Unless something's going wrong with me eyesight, I have to say you're totally wrong.
Some great work today fellas!

Dave,
Thsnk you, I still haven’t achieved the “look” I’m going for.
But, I love this thread, so much talent to learn from.
Brother Love,
I certainly understand. There are things I have to go back and correct or in some cases, completely change because I don't care for it. In some cases, despite what others say. Many times I know I don't care for it early on but want to "sit on it" for a little while. The great thing about it is we can always go back and change things, come to places like this for ideas, or in extreme cases use the talents of other people to help. I have had to use all three solutions and even in the extreme cases, I learn and can do it myself the next go around. If you're like me I know you want to do it and not look back, even though we will always find something we can do.
You clearly have an idea of what you want for your layout but we don't know what that is. What I see is some great modeling but hopefully, for your sake, you are able to achieve the level of satisfaction you want. You certainly deserve that to go with your amazing trains.
Dave
I enjoy this thread as much as anything on the forum.
Thank you everyone.
Clearly with Covid-19, lots of people are working on lots of nice things!
