Good Morning Everyone,
I will start with a model I constructed in the past. Lets see what you have been working on.

Continuing my work to rehabilitate a Korber apartment-type building…….two sides and a front were salvaged from a show some time back and I replaced the missing piece with a Korber front.
Paint colors were matched and Roberts Mortar Mixture applied.
The sides were warping……so, this week was spent “straightening” them with 1/2” by 4.5” bracing……which has been successful so far. It’s been slow because I am allowing a prolonged time for drying……
Have a great and safe week, everyone!
Peter
During the construction of my small/medium layout, I figured out how to make the upper dog bone out of 060 instead of the 048 originally designed. As a result, one small section of the upper level now overhangs the lower level by a few inches. The original plan was either over hanging foam or plaster rocks to create a lower tunnel and hide needed supports for the upper level. The problem with that plan was I still need access to the double track tunnel underneath and the original design created a very long hidden tunnel on the lower level with very little visual interest.
A trip I made on the Rocky Mountaineer in Canada gave me inspiration to try an avalanche shed that are common on that line.
To make it structural, I used 1/4” copper rigid pipe as columns and some scrap plywood. The shed was divided in half so either section could easily be removed for quick access. It was finished with textured spray paint and some washes for weathering. I still have more weathering to do, but like the results so far.
We had visitors Friday night which included our 11 yr old niece and 9 yr old nephew. The design passed their inspection. They stood at that location often to watch the trains pass under the new avalanche shed.
@Putnam Division Peter I have had success with applying heat from the hair dryer assisting your other methods to straighten the warping.
@jstraw124 the avalanche shed is definitely interesting and inspiring to the rest of us as well….
In the beginning of this week I added name signage to a few businesses. I noticed the ice cream cone wasn’t turning as designed and corrected this on the refreshment stand.
Assisted My daughter’s father n law Larry Fields bring his father’s layout back to life. We cleaned track and worked on all the levers, lamps, uncouplers, turnouts, depots and gates. George died in 2003 and the layout has been in storage since long before his death. Larry’s Lionel steam 2026 ran the tracks the first time since 1989. The last time it ran the layout was during a 40th birthday celebration. The engine ran and chuffed thick smoke as well. A really enjoyable afternoon.
Great work, everyone!
I suspect many are engaged in Summer activities……but, I suspect we’ll see more projects as the “chill of autumn” arrives……

Agreed - I have only been able to sneak down to the layout a couple times this summer. As school begins and lawnmowing ends I expect to have more hours to labor away in the dungeon...
