Really nice job. Lived next to the el on the Ravenswood (Brown) line at Damen Ave. Your photos bring back good memories. The el train looks great.

Looks great Alan
Beautiful!
Looks very nice. Do you have the elevated in conjuction with regular steam RR trackage, or do you just model the "L"? It would sure be neat to see a train of 3rd Rail's North Shore coaches rounding those corners. Wonder if they'd make that tight radius? If looks just the way I remember downtown Chicago and the Loop looking.

Thanks Muff....I used 7 Disney Stations to bash what you see. PM me and I will give you more details.

Great work, Alan! Only thing is, if it were me, I'd be thinking late afternoon sun,
specifically Friday afternoon, like on my way home from the city for the weekend!
HOPPY
Great point HOPPY...!! Except....there are no West facing windows in my train room
Alan
Alan very nice pictures. With all that wonderful Sun I bet you use Sun glasses to run trains in the mornigs
Bill....those sunglasses would certainly be needed if it were not for the bamboo roll-up shades that I keep over the windows at all times. Believe it or not, those shades are always down when I am taking pictures in the mornings and still look at the sun/shadows I have! With our place on the top of a hill here in town and then on the second story of my garage, we have nothing outside that blocks the sunrise. I can look out the windows especially in the winter time and see several miles across town! The windows as you may have noticed are high on the wall close to the ceiling leaving me most of the wall below them to use as backdrop. Only the two center windows come down to within 4 feet of the floor. I am so glad I put the windows in the room. They allow me to have good light in the room during the day so I don't have to have the lights on and they sure help on the picture taking front!
Alan
Nice pictures and nice looking El structure. Is that a custom built El?
Alan,
Wonderful pictures! Excellent use of sunlight!
(Everytime I see your natural light pictures I wish there were a way I could use mirrors to deflect and bend sunlight to shine on my layout )
Thanks for sharing.
REALLY LOOKING FORWARD to the Mid America 3-Railers meet and related activities this weekend.
Alex
Thanks Bob... I built the "EL"...it is not a kit. Most of the components were custom made for me based on my specifications. Some of the parts were made here locally but before I finished the project, my local connection was not available so Jim at Bridgeboss came to my rescue and made the supporting piers for me.
