Very nice! I like the train, the sound, and the backdrop. I am glad I am not a little passenger trying to leap between cars . . .
Wow. That is awesome with three powered locomotives. Nice looking early EL transition on an excellent layout.
Cool train!
Are these EL units the recent releases? If so, I'm a bit surprised (disappointed). The pre-production images in the Sunset web pages showed no port holes as per later EL repairs. It was the most outstanding road specific detail I saw in the advertising and my reason for ordering them. Mine just arrived last week and I haven't opened them yet. :-(
It was made very clear during the design phase 6 months or so ago the porthole delete was not possible.
Incredibly beautiful! Love it ! What a fantastic train.
I'm sure that I'm going to enjoy my EL E8s just as they are. I appreciate the quality of Sunset products and own a few. I'm curious though, where was the porthole delete "made clear"? I didn't see it on the website or in any communications from Sunset. Where did I miss it? Help me out.
Earl
These were never advertised to have tooling changes to delete the porthole windows. Amtrak removed the porthole windows on a majority of their E8s as well as a number of other roads later in life, but it was discussed on this forum that due to tooling limitations for this project the porthole windows could not be deleted. With 29 road names, the majority of units had the standard as-delivered EMD window arrangement.
I'm thrilled with my Amtrak ones. Incredible runners. Need to get some track laid to run my 2 rail PRR one soon ... along with PRR 2 rail E7s, FP7s, F7s & SD9s.
Once you get these on the track and see how smooth they run and how good they sound, I'm sure you will be very happy!
Very nice scene and equipment. Like particularly the employment of the American Scale Models Erie express boxcars! Very attractive color schemes, mixed in a visually interesting manner.
