I need to correct my earlier post after doing a little more research.  The MTH jack shaft locomotive I ordered, but was never made, was a three unit Virginian EL-3A.  It was item 20-5596-1 and was listed for $1299.95.  It was in the 2007, volume 2 catalog.

Were the N and W LC-1 locomotives the ones with the brine rheostats?  It so, that was a real interesting locomotive.  One of the few electrics that would need a smoke unit.

When I first set engine ID I used AUX1 83 which was the only one listed in the manual and is the hard reset. When I did that one light no longer toggled but stayed on all time while the other did toggle. When I reprogrammed it for AUX1 6 both lights toggled. ERR uses 4 feature codes, one for steam and three for diesel. Unless ERR created a new feature code for this engine the correct one will likely be one of the three, AUX1 5, AUX1 6, or AUX1 8. The last one being used for diesel with smoke.

What manufacturer do you know of will respond instantly to a problem?  I think SM is the only one, nope I'm sure of it.

Sure Scott, speaker and sound board will be great, I'll try speaker first, if it is that I will send you back the board, but better send both to be sure.

Besides the small sound glitch, this model surpasses my expectations. One thrill is I don't have to glue on safety chains... they're already there!
