Just saw a Sunset GE 70 Ton in factory MKT paint, just wondering how much something like that might be valued at today. I am not a 2 rail guy, but the unit was sweet. In like new condition but the foam of the original packing was decitigrating and was stuck to one the side of the unit.

Also on hand was a large hard covered Overland Models book with a lot of images of thier offerings over the years. It was pretty neat, but thought the price was high.

Thanks, dan

I had one. They ran rather stiffly, not smooth at all, and terrible at slow speeds. The detailing was basic, at best. They had a stiff belt that ran from the motor shaft down to the trucks for power. Kind of like the old rubber band drive on early Athearn "F" units, only built heavier.

I see them on Ebay now and then. Seems like the selling prices usually range from $350.00 unpainted -  $450.00 painted, depending on how the paint looks.

Hi

I like the 70 tonner and have tree (3), start with trowing the drive away, i think

its "Presicion Scale" who made them, and some Japan builder made the body.

Trucksides and bolster is in PS catalog. After several atempts to modyfie the drive

i gave up, then rebuild them completely with corelees can motors and Overland trimmed

and tuned gearboxes and wheels, that works, the body is a good start for custommaking

your own model.

Have had a Yoder models to, but with a disapointing drive (3 rail) and a litle bit crude

for my taste.

Conclusion is: nice body, but you have to make a new drive!

Best regards

Per
