Survey: Crossing Gates & Signals

My favorite crossing signals are the RailKing 30-11014 crossing signals with flashing circuit. The signal is labeled "2 TRACKS".

I have substituted a circuit from ITT (HQ300-3) for the ringing bell sounds.

So that's it?  Just 3 crossing guard signals or gates?

I find that hard to believe. 

Looking for some help, please.

Mine are boxed right now so I can't give you a picture. But I used Lionel 6-12062 grade crossing with gates and flashers. MSRP 159.00. I controlled them with153IR controller MSRP 45.00 They were on the outside of two main line tracks. I wired them so the 153 would activate the gates when a train was coming from either direction. That took two 153 IR controllers. I'm thinking along the lines of a 4.

George, when I was in O I used Z Stuff and like them very much.  Very realistic IMHO.

MTH Crossing gates - realistic   4+

Lionel gates work a little faster than the MTH units do - that helps when the signaling zone is short. The MTH gates take too long for some track speeds.

That's a personal opinion and observation.

I use a lot of American Flyer ones,which I rewire to flash. I also have some MTH,both crossing gates and flashers. I also have the 2 Marx models and some Lionel ones.

I have the MTH crossing gates (30-11012) on my layout and I think they look good.

Here is a video of the gates in action to give you an idea of how they operate. I have them tied to an isolated rail section to trip them and the flashers on the wall.

The flasher towards the back looks a liitle large for O scale.

RailKing #30-11006 Highway Crossing Signal

This is a dual flashing highway signal that can be operated by an ITAD or other circuits. The bullt in flashing circuit provides a flash rate of approximately 1 second rate.
