Swiss beauty from LGB

The DFB Hg4/4 that LGB is producing is truly fascinating, even for a Swiss engine, in that it was built in Switzerland for Vietnam. So, it never ran on a Swiss Railroad until recently! My understanding is they will also produce a black version, representing the as built look.

Of note is that Kiss also announced the DFB engine months ago. Now LGB and Kiss are having a war online over who decided to make the engine first, who will deliver first, and of course, whose will be best.  Both engines are in the same price range - almost 4K Euros.  By making limited run metal models of Swiss engines LGB is stepping on turf owned by Kiss. 

If I were modeling a G-Gauge rack rail layout, I’d be highly interested.

The LGB/Kiss schleptender lok is my preference over the rack loco. Just not a fan of rack locos. Really cannot afford either one!

Just wondering... Does the gear wheel of functioning LGB gear loco interfere with rails on a switch. As pricey as the LGB DFB Hg4/4 is the gear wheel should be capable of remotely engage the rack and the retract above the rails.

Disclaimer: I have never seen any LGB rack track.

Honestly I don’t know. My other LGB rack system engines have no issues with switches however. 

Both are striking beauties in thier own rites. 

The drivetrain visual of the rack loco ran away with the cake imediately.  Icing was the realization it was was a rack loco without a slant.

That rack loco definitely takes the detail prize, but if I could only afford one, it would be the tender lok. BOTH are jewels and Kiss did an excellent job with these models.

Fred, this looks like the Fulgurex St Gotthard locomotive.  The tender looks to be the same

A rack locomotive is another name for a cog railroad locomotive, like the Mount Washington Cog Railway.

Fred, this looks like the Fulgurex St Gotthard locomotive.  The tender looks to be the same

There is a recognisable Swiss style of locomotives; I think however this Kiss 1 gauge  2-10-0 locomotive is very different from the Fulgurex 4-6-0 (but they both have wheels and a smokestack ). 

Further note that these are not narrow gauge locomotive like the LGB ones.

It is a visual pleasure to see photos of these beautiful and stunning model locos made by Aster, Fulgurex, Kiss, LGB, Marklin and others. The level of detail and the finishes are executed with great skills to achieve perfection. In all cases, you most assuredly get value for your purchase!

I'm really excited since I pre-ordered one for myself.  The LGB website said that they should be here in Feb 2020 right after the Nuremberg Toy Fair.
