It's #SwitcherSaturday time!!!!

Lots of us out there love switchers (shifters, docksiders, yard goats, critters, etc.), so lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

If you missed last week's SWSAT you need to circle back and take a look!

Today at the Murnane house we have my K-Line K2231 New York Central #2231 MP15 Diesel Switcher on duty. One picture is essentially "unmodified" the other two I goofed off some more and played around with them, I think they look neat but some folks will probably think they look weird.

Please enjoy your weekend, stay out of trouble, and if you get a chance post some pictures/videos/stories of your favorite switchers!

Best...Rich Murnane

p.s. Miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday

Happy SWSat!

We are off to a great start this week. I really like the truly intermodal switching going on in those rocket shots Rich. Bob, nice SW2 I have some pics of some cousins of that unit that I took last week up in the Adirondacks as my contribution this week. I got them all very quickly while my family "patiently" waited in the car. I beat the rain just barely as you can see in the ominous rain clouds

I took these last weekend at the Saratoga and North Creek RR at the North Creek NY station and engine house. First up is the former S1 Alco Plant Switcher #5. I do like the company colors look it has. image

Next up is a traveler from the lower end of the state in disguise. This S2 used to work for the Statin Island Transit. Now it wears the original Delaware and Hudson switcher scheme with its old number balanced on the turntable

image

I have to include former BAR BL2 #56 because it was sneaking its face around the engine house. I consider these honorary switchers because switching branch line runs is why they look like they do.

Have a great weekend. I'm sure I'll be back later.

Hurray for switcher Saturday!   Nothing super new today but some fun things none the less.  My younger son's lc switcher and every one's favorite docksider.  Along with that my daughter and younger son having a blast in front of " Two Loops to Nowhere ".20160903_080034

As an extra bonus here is some mainline power perfroming shifting duties by assembling the out bound empties at my plant before heading back to Enola.

I have some images I that I almost posted last week of some switchers. They are appropriate to some of the conversation we were having. To not cause confusion I am posting them on this one instead of time traveling back.

First up is this nice Horse powered switcher.image

Next up this golden industrious beaver powered switcher.image

Here is a screaming Eagle powered road switcher.image

An small but nimble Goat powered Davernport switcher pulling the markers on these prototype images.image

Last here is a Williams Chessie Cat on my old layout. I kind of miss the old layout even though I have more space now.

I am always looking for more daily driver cars from the late 70's early 80's. This Dodge Diplomat fits right in. image

JHZ What beautiful children you have. They look so happy. You are a lucky man.

Good morning fellow SSWAT buds!!!  It's Switcher Saturday and I don't want to be late for the party this week.  Lots of great photos and information so far!

Rich - the first photo of the MP15 looks like it was taken in the 1950's or 60s ... at least to me.   Thanks for the NASA train and switcher photos!!  .... not your normal switch job  Also thanks for being awake so early on Saturday morning and starting this thread!  MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

JHZ563 - Two loops to nowhere?  Looks like those loops lead to fun times, as expressed by your two cute kids!!

Silver Lake - nothing says beauty like a BL2 dressed in that livery. WOW!!!  Thank your family for all of us here at SWSAT for their "patience".

Bob - thanks for those great AMTRAK switcher photos!!!  Got to love an ALCO switcher!!  I just love the sound of their prime mover!!

Here is some photos from the Free State Junction Railway here in Maryland where the sun shines beautifully this morning!!!  Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!IMG_0323IMG_0329IMG_0663IMG_0670

Happy Switcher Saturday everyone. Sorry I am late to the party, but I had to work. All Saturday work should be outlawed!

My contributions today are my #231 (loco by itself) and my #228 on my prewar manual switch. Rich gave me the idea to try some photo techniques on my tablet, so what is old actually looks old, I guess. I think I like the second one the best.

great stuff guys, thanks for sharing the ride with me.

Looks like I need to pick up an S2 now I guess....
This one looks nice, hmm....

The Lionel S2 switchers are hard to find - and when you do find one, they usually carry a premium. I do love mine and wish I got a second.

Or maybe this one?  MTH 20-20589-1

Rich.....I have the legacy NYC S2 and absolutely love it.....runs very smooth and is well-detailed. You can't go wrong of you get one!

Peter

Great week this week everyone, thanks again for joining in on the fun.

If any of you are going to York, please let us know what the "Switcher Situation" is there (see any good ones?  any unusual ones?  any switching layouts [timesavers, etc..] available to try out? any "Switcher bargains"?).
If your allowed to take pics I'd love to see them.  I'd love to go one of these times, but getting the days off work is tough, maybe just run up (~1.5 hrs away) for a Saturday but my understanding is that trying to squeeze everything into a Saturday only isn't much fun.  I think next year they said something about letting the "public" in without buying a TCA membership, so maybe that will be the way I go, we'll see.

Enjoy your week and see you all next week...Rich
