The result of our first shadowbox of the week offering from a few weeks ago. The "Right Side" building of the D.F. Stauffer project in three different heights with a custom Rooftop Billboard Sign (RBBS) on top. This RBBS is limited in letter size because of the width of the building and is made with 1/2" high letters. The RBBS brackets have been redesigned to be custom order-ready for a one, two or three line sign. Order shipped February 28, 2022.

In addition to making every effort to get caught up on the backlog of custom orders there will be Shadowbox Model Of The Week posted on the homepage of the website. Each posted model is ready to ship. Further customization is not offered as there is no available shop time.

A basic 6 window column configuration of the Paterson Silk Mill project, this time in S Scale, with use of freight doors on the first floor and the basic double hung window option. The model was shipped with the translucent glazing selection and 12 VDC lighting option. The first two runs of the Paterson Silk Mill project in S Scale are now completely sold out. A third S Scale run is now scheduled to begin during the third week of March with a couple of built-up models available at York and the others in build boxes for custom configuration orders.

New trackside warehouse in the works. Allowing for 1 hour of CAD work each day the Franklin Freight & Storage building has taken shape this week. The model length is limited by the laser bed, 28", and is enough to park two PS-1 boxcars centered on the doors. The project will be available as a regular shadowbox, with a canopy over a loading dock and with a building overhang over the delivery track. Please reach out to me directly if you have any design suggestions. Model delivery anticipated for October '22 York.

TAM&L One-A-Days & Updates will not be updated on Saturdays. Sundays will be used to announce a Sunday Sale event on the website. Each sale will be posted Sunday morning and, due to Wix website design parameters, expire after midnight on the subsequent Monday.
This week's Sunday Sale is on laser cut fence and fire escape kits. We offer three difference fences and two different fire escape kits in O Scale. The material is PolyBak and is quite durable, but does require a little care and finesse to get the pieces out of the sheet. The fence works well on curves as it can easily be bent to a 15" radius. The coupon code will also work for the S Scale fence and stadium seat kits.
The coupon code is SUNDAYSALE25%OFF when you look at product at https://www.toddarchitecturalmodels.com/benches

Two D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Co. shadowboxes off the tables today, one lit & one unlit. When I announced the model I said that only 100 shadowboxes would be produced. Hard to believe that we are at Run #7 and these are lettered models 73 and 74. There are two more lettered 4-story versions from Run #7 in build boxes, ready to assemble with the buyer's specification of glazing. After we get to the century mark the building will still be available in 3-, 4- and 5-story heights, but not with the lettering on the 4-story prototype.
Slowly but surely getting through the backlog. Thank you to all that have shown patience.

Never wanting to waste more material than necessary I have recently added cutting larger size letters and numbers out of elevation drop outs. We now have a nice assortment of 3/4" and 1" high letters in 1/16" and 1/8" acrylic plastic, all with adhesive transfer tape on the back. Most are clear and some of the ones that are 1/16" thick may be white. They are in the same fonts as our regular letter sets that range in six from 3/16" up to 1" high, are laser cut out of PolyBak and also have adhesive transfer tape on the back.
The 3/4" letters & numbers are 6 for $1.00 and the 1" high letters are 5 for $1.00, you pick the letters, plus 1st class USPS.

Have spent the last four days working on the mess that is uncompleted orders. One of the worst offenders is StreetScape Series 3 as I promised a little bit more detail on the original theme and then dropped the ball. Here are S1-1 and S1-6, the left and right ends of the six-piece set glazed in Roscolux Grey, clear and translucent. These pieces feature a textured marble on the first floor stone. The full series orders will ship on Monday.

Plenty of 1" high letters with adhesive transfer tape have been developed from 1/8" window door drop-outs so the next angle will be Rooftop Billboard Signs. The first one is "GENERAL ELECTRIC" with 1" letters and will be available in kit form in the near future. The kit will consist of the 1/8" thick letters, laser cut letter spacers and bents, the necessary Evergreen styrene strip for rear braces and a Taskboard spacing jig. Assembly with acrylic plastic solvent (preferred) or thick CA. The prototype has the structure painted flat black and the letters white. The next one on the horizon will be "RAILWAY EXPRESS" in 1-1/4" high letters. The kits will be made in quantity associated with runs of the Union Pacific Trackside Warehouse (WH-01) shadowboxes and offered in a website Sunday Sale or at York.

The last piece of the six piece StreetScape Series 3 is completed and sets will start to ship tomorrow. The building S3-2 (left) is numbered in honor of my father's birth year. It stands next to the similarly positioned building (right) from the first series run S1-2. That one is numbered after my birth year. Always a numbers guy, he called me up on the morning of my 25th to tell me it would be the only year I was to be half as old as him.

Neat stuff. When are you going to have something like the backside of a warehouse with a dock for boxcars?

New window in the works 2.
It only took me seven years to spend 10 minutes creating a jig to center/assemble the PolyBak window layers for our model windows. An offset of 3/256" from the original window opening (to account for beam width) creates a good fit to drop in the layers to center them up. Laser cut out of .060" scrap so that beam deflection is negligible.

York is only two weeks away and I am racing against the clock to complete backorders and orders for pick-up in the Orange Hall. A picture of the unpainted/partially clad shadowbox is shown below. The width is 6-5/8" and the height is 20". Three will be ready for TCA York and one is spoken for.
The base price is $196.00 with your choice of clear, translucent or Roscolux Grey glazing. A layer of translucent behind the Roscolux Grey is $20 extra. Individual LED lighting by floor is $49 extra. You may place an order by emailing me or calling the shop no later than April 18, 2022. Payment at pickup only at JJ-11 in the Orange Hall.

Tough to keep up with One-A-Days when I have so much catching up to do, preparation work for York and cover time for the "upstairs" business, Rover dog sitting. Anyone who has stopped by the shop knows my better half daycares and overnights dogs. This week is a version of heck week as we are booked solid with spring break.
I always try to use the dropouts from laser cutting .060" and .125" acrylic plastic for the shadowbox and building elevations. All of the dropout pieces from acrylic plastic will have high performance adhesive transfer tape on the back. The dropouts for the CS-01 project are pilaster kits. The modeler can peal & stick pieces on top of the base piece to produce a pilaster that is 2-1/16" tall. The process and results are shown below. The first picture is the original piece in the laser bed and the second is what I use to get the final results.
I have three sets of pieces that will make up to 12 pilasters for you. Final count is not guaranteed as the price is right- you send me your mailing address and I will send you one kit for no charge.

A project that has been asked after of me for a while is a freestanding staircase, in this first application from a main table level up to a raised platform train station. The grade change will be 5-11/16", the overall run can be about 8" and the width will be 2". There will be a landing at the halfway point and at the top. I plan to use EMA Plastruct structural steel shape for column supports . The railing layer will be .060" laser cut acrylic. The stair riser layer will be .125" laser cut acrylic. Risers will be open and treads will be 030 x 188 Evergreen Styrene.

Besides taking the last 10 days laying low from a positive C-19 test, I have been developing the Franklin Freight & Storage project. The base model prototype made its debut at TCA York a couple of weeks back. One of the new available details will be pivotable window panes. Here are first drafts of a 1-1/2" deep loading platform that will have a canopy above and the third option, the siding track against the building with the upper floors cantilevered over it. It is a nice little puzzle to work out the offsets and material thicknesses for straight-forward assembly. Methods learned on this model will greatly enhance CS-08 Downtown Building #1. The model is 17" long by 16" tall. The third option will extend out about 6" from the wall.
Base model with 1-1/2" loading dock off of a 1" deep shadowbox.
Taskboard mockup trial for Option #3, building cantilevered over loading track.
Closeup of pivoting window panes.
Base shadowbox shown with the three glazing options shown at TCA York.
