TAS EOB acting up

Why not title this Solution to TAS EOB erratic operation.  Will help for future searches. G

I've replaced the tapes on three installations in the last couple of months because of this very problem.  Regardless of the recommendations, Scotch Tape over the tach strip is a very BAD idea.

Where do you even get replacement tape strips? I've always figured that if I have to replace one, I'll just paint black and white stripes on the flywheel and clear-coat it. 

Print them on gummed label paper.  I've attached the tach tape file for printing.  Painting them on sounds like a lot of work!

Thanks for the PDF - I've downloaded and filed it in case of need. Actually, I don't think painting it would be all that bad a job. Paint the flywheel in white primer, measure the width of the stripes, cut a long strip of masking tape to the width, them mask off the stripes and paint the black. Kind of time consuming, but not all that difficult. I agree your way is easier. 

Color me lazy, I don't have enough time for all the things I want (and need) to do now, so adding a time consuming project isn't in the cards.
