Other clubs like LCCA provide fresh Lionel Catalogs sent to members. To me this is great benefit to have fresh catalogs to set aside. Understanding that the TCA represents those who like many different brands and gauges...why not offer an option to get catalogs from a couple mfg of choice. Say MTH, Marklin, etc. for example. It would be a nice benefit for the membership price.

Let's not start comparing the TCA and LCCA. They are two different clubs.
I would not have any use for any new product catalogs. I give away whatever catalogs I get now as it is. And I am not the only person I know who does not purchase newly made product.
Just curious: What other clubs besides the LCCA, and manufacturers fan clubs send out new product catalogs? When I was a TTOS member, they did not.
I think that LCCA members get the catalogs due to the special relationship with Lionel after they absorbed Lionel's company-sponsored club.
Mike,
If you want some pretty and new that says,"TCA". Try the TCA website store.

LOTS also sends the Lionel catalog.
Yes I was going to say LOTS too. Of course I'm not comparing clubs...they all have their appeal IMO which is why I am a happy member of each. It would just be cool to get some harder find catalogs from other makers.
Also, does the TCA Still offer a personalized membership certificate for sale that's frameable? Also plastic membership cards would be a neat option too. LCCA and LOTS dropped those too.
I don't think the TCA needs to deal with the overhead costs of providing catalogs to members(even if the catalogs themselves were provided free by the manufacturers).
There are more than enough other avenues to acquire them.

The challenge for ANY of these clubs nowadays is to provide VALUE to its membership at large. So I'd rather see them focus on that goal and spend $$$ prudently. Given the rapid access of information that's available to us today, I'd weigh in on the side of those folks who don't think providing a physical catalog in the mail is all that much of a benefit now.
Usually after a few product shipments arrive at my doorstep (where dealers often pack one or two catalogs in the shipping carton), I have more catalogs than I know what to do with anyway.

I end up with lots of catalogs as well. I try to keep a mint version of every Lionel catalog...and a mint version of any other catalogs that features product I purchased. The physical catalog will always be better than digital.

I'm with you on all of that(I try to do the same), I just don't want to see the already financially challenged TCA add this as something they need to deal with.

Good point I want them to hang around a long time as with all the other clubs.
