If I want to run a loco that has been idling for awhile is there any way to tell on the handheld what direction it's going to go?

No, there is not.

Is the only way the headlights and/or guessing while increasing throttle?

Yes, that's correct.

However, while I haven't tried it, one other thing you could do is press Startup while the engine is stationary. That should ensure that the engine points forward.

That is a great tip. So simple yet one of those things I never caught on to. There have been countless times I've started a DCS engine in the wrong direction.

Ill use this tip daily. Most likely get into the habit of automatically pressing the start button before moving an engine when I am moving a bunch of them about.

Very much appreciated Barry.
