Testing Lionel Fastrack remote switches
Former Member
I purchased 2 used Fastrack switches without the remote switch controllers. Can someone advise me which 2 of the 4 terminals on the bottom to apply voltage to to check for proper operation in either direction?
Yes that’s true. The change in polarity + to - goes from green to red. You could easily build an led circuit to display that. Use about 270 ohm resistor in series with an led to common to limit the current.
No, it’s a signal output which powers the green and red LEDs. When you change the switch points, even manually, the yellow wire will put out plus or minus 5 volts dc to indicate the direction of travel.
In order to simply test the function of the switch, you just connect the GND to either the THRU or OUT terminal and the switch should move to that position. As stated, to test the indicator function, you need either a BI-Color 2-pin LED and a 100 ohm (or larger) resistor or a voltmeter.
