Happy thanksgiving weekend and start to the Christmas all!!!  Great videos Jeffrey  I have done a lot of work on the layout lately. I took everything off the plywood including grass to do some vast improvements. I got darker grass for more realism, wired up my new DCS system, redid track making thee outer loop O-54 with a graduated trestle and bridge with an O-31 remote siding with an operating track and lighted bumper, in the siding I added a freight station and yard moving one of my light towers there, rewired my MPC crossing signal to flash, and added a lot of details such as billboards and signs around the layout. Next week I'm adding trees and grade crossings thaty are currently on their way and will post the progress.

It would be great if OGR magazine a section for these type of home built projects.

This hopper unloading unit could be a nice addition to any model railroad with coal mine facilities.

Thanks for the well ilustrated tutorial video.

Charlie,

I'm not exactly sure how many hours.  I worked on it off and on for a month.  A few hours here and there.  Most of the time was spent on deciding how to do the chutes and on painting.  Many thanks for the comments.

Jeffrey,

Thanks for the compliment on the layout, but frankly there is a lot of work to be done.  A large portion of the railroad is currently under construction and my train room looks as if a bomb went off, stuff everywhere.  The video was made in the few areas not affected and the shots were kept pretty tight so as not to show all the chaos!  I wish I was more neat and tidy when I'm working, but my excuse is that I am working on a pretty large area.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I love your video above of the NYC equipment.  Aside from the fact I like the NYC, I am impressed with how steady you were able to hold the camera as you were following the trains!  Bo
