Looking at the video on the Lionel site it seems the problem with signals getting messed up is where two tracks allow the signal from both to mix above the track about engine antenna height (where one track crosses over the other for example), in effect doubling from 60 hz to 120 hz or more.  Is there a device one can insert between the antenna and the board which effectively limits the signal to the board to 60 hz regardless?

When it comes to electrons they are so hard to see that one cannot always tell what they ae doing. I find the best thing is to avoid definitives (Never say Never). However the signals you are talking about at the antenna are more in the area of 455 KHz than 60 Hz. The 60 Hz they refer to is for timing and is derived from the power supplied to the track. The problem where one track crosses over another is usually caused by the upper track shielding the lower track from the signal radiated by the building ground. Thus adding a ground wire between the two helps to fix the problem.

The Lionel video is totally inaccurate regarding sync signals, interference and shielding.  There are no "signal collisions" at 455 KHz.  At the time, Mike R. was apparently unaware of the true nature of the track signal and the true significance of the earth ground component of the signal.

Maybe http://www.trainfacts.com/trainfacts/?p=317 will help you understand what is really going on.

Lionel should replace that video with a correct version.  It is a disservice to the hobby.
