Can anyone confirm how high the track needs to be elevated on these 30" bridges, i.e., the track sits directly on the plastic bridge floor. I recall that these bridges were made for Realtrax with has its roadbed built in and therefore elevates the rails high enough. Without a minimum elevation, track without a roadbed will cause some steamers' siderods to hit the walkways. I don't have all the components to figure this, so I am hoping someone who has used these bridges with Gargraves or Ross track and knows how high the track needs to be elevated. Cork roadbed for example is only 3/16" thick, and may not be enough. Thanks.

Hi Paul I might be able to help, I have two of theses 30 inch bridges and I'm using Real Trax. The RealTrax height to the top of the rail is 11/16, I also have a section of Atlas track laying around, and the height of that is 1/2 inch. What I can tell you is with the Real Trax installed on these bridges, the side rods and front pilot wheels are very close too the walkway on the bridge. I hope this helps, if you need more info just let me know.
Alex
I have Gargraves tracks on my bridges. I glued some extra Gargraves ties to the plastic bed of the bridge. Then I attached the track to the ties. It elevated the track so the steam engines do not hit the walkway. Hope this helps.

Thanks Alex and Don.
Don, I was thinking of using some scrap mill work and gluing it to the bed, but using old ties which are already stained is a good idea. I guesstimate ties are about 5/16" high, so I suppose that's enough.
BTW: did you make those bridge tracks in the picture - with the extra rails? That's a neat look.
Paul, those are bridge tracks with the safety rails, made by Gargraves.
Don,
I am just a few days away fron installing my two Railking bridges with Gargraves. How high did you stack the underlying ties? One tie high? Two? So glad I spotted this thread??
I used one tie.
Thank you.
