I'm retired so I usually have the ability to work in my train repairing, operating and everything else train related during the course of my waking hours.  I have a lot of other hobbies to include cycling, hiking, fishing and now kayaking so train time is diminished somewhat during these warmer months but it never ceases entirely.  One thing that does not diminish is the time I spend on this forum.

With multiple hobbies trains are ideal for the cold harsh winter months where the outdoor activities are limited. As soon as May arrives, the focus here is on traveling the USA by train (Colorado this summer) , car shows/collecting, target shooting, the Jersey Shore (Cape May where my wife's summer home is)  and nearby shore towns like Fenwick Island, DE and Ocean City Md.

Not me, I had my first op session ever, just yesterday and did an op session the day before on a large HO layout...

I've never understood why people stop working on their layouts in the summer.

Then again, I haven't had mine for a year yet, and the summer here is the only time it doesn't rain every day or two. I could only have built the benchwork on my back deck like I did in July, when it was done...

I have other hobbies, such as my historical re-enacting hobby (I drove my WW2 Jeep around the neighborhood last week, would have done it this weekend had the op sessions not dominated my time) and those pretty much shut down once Fall is coming...

Not where I was from. I was born and raised in Florida, where it got way too hot to do much in the middle of summer. I knew lots of people who retreated to their layouts in the deepest part of summer. Winter actually was a relief to people in the deep South, in that the worst parts of the heat were over, the rains were mostly gone and the hurricane threat was unlikely as well.

It gets awfully hot in Georgia during the summer so if anything, my trains get more artention. It gets too hot for me to work outside once 11:00'or so rolls around.  So the AC gets turned on in the trainroom, a good lunch, an even better nap, and then the rest of the day and early evening is in the train room having some fun.  As you can see it's really hard being me some days
