Good evening, everyone.

In two previous postings I asked about a failure on my TIU's fixed voltage channel 2.

Today I received a new unit and am back in business. This gave me the opportunity to open the old TIU, which is rev. H1. All 4 fuses have continuity as measured by a volt meter.

I hooked up a spare type z transformer, first to the fixed voltage channel 1. As expected the diode lit and there was 18 volts measured on the output.

Next I ran a second set of wires to the fixed voltage channel 2 posts and was surprised to measure 18 volts on this output. I expected it to be 0 volts, as I was unable to get that track to run.

i then removed the wires from the fixed voltage channel 2 and attached them in succession to both variable channels. Both had 18 volts measured on the input, but both had 0 volts on the outputs! Neither of these variable channels have ever been use.

Is is this normal for these variable channels?

I will close by saying the trains run much smoother with the new TIU. The old TIU had a small but perceptible variance in the speed of the one train as it moved around the track. The new handheld's thumb wheel is much more positive also.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Regards,

Bill
