Several days ago, in the "Buy anything cool lately" thread I posted with photos my recent purchase of four LIONEL SF 15", polished aluminum, passenger cars on eBay for a paint project; i.e., paint and decorate them as Texas Special cars.  And they are great candidates since they very closely resemble the Pullman-Standard stainless steel fluting and smooth roofs of the prototype.  Here's the post with photos:

However, when I saw the four cars together, I thought they were "too pretty to paint."  Later that night I decided I' wouldn't paint them and I'd need to find other donors for the TS project.

A forum member read my post and contacted me with an offer to sell his 5-car set of these same cars (he had the baggage car along with the same 4 I had) although not in quite as nice condition as mine.  He had two cars that were missing one car number plaque each; and the plaques are not available from LIONEl or NLTWl.  We agreed on terms and the cars arrived today.  I won't post pics of the cars and will just say they are very nearly as nice as what I had already, and in the important respects, were without blemish for the repaint project.

An added plus of these new-to-me cars is the previous owner installed GRJ's LED kits and they work perfectly.

So the "too pretty to paint cars" won't be painted; and the TS special project is back on track--ordered the Tru-Color paint today, in fact.

Typical train guy approach:  If one plan won't work, BUY MORE TRAINS!!!

I will buy all the Santa Fe name plates off the cars you are painting, if you don't want them as spares 😀.
