I am in the complete re-build mode of my new layout. I have two basic loops of track. One is 100' the other 60'. They are separate from each other. Currently track is down and tested with small transformers just to verify all is working.

I have a ZW-C with 180 watt bricks that I planned to use, but after much reading I'm not sure anymore if it's necessary to use it. I want to run Lionel TMCC/Legacy and conventional in all brands on either oval by remote.

MY question For track power ONLY can I just use a 180 watt brick on each oval with TPC 300 on each oval?

I'll use the ZW for other aux power through out the layout.

I'm trying to get out of having to fool with the ZW built in powermasters and just use the TPC to control track power. I have all I need to do this already.

Any advice would be appreciated. especially if I have this idea totally messed up.

Thanks

Larry

The transformer is not needed when your using a tpc. A tpc will allow you to vary the voltage from the brick with the throttle knob on the remote.

Lionels tpc unit does a fine job of running MTH locos conventionlly as well, it will allow you to fire Mth couplers with the remote.

You can turn track power on and off via the remote, toggle from command to conventional with a couple keystrokes and set conventional starting voltage, tpc's are nice components.
