TRACK CENTERS ?
Former Member
Hello ... I know this has been addressed before ... But I did not take note ... So please tell / advise me on Atlas track is center to center 4.5" enough for 081,090,099 Curves ?
Atlas is 4.5" center-line spacing on their bridges and curves sizes. Should be sufficient for O-81 and up except for Big Boys passing on the inside of scale-length passenger cars.
It depends on the equipment you want to run. Some guys will tell you to use 6" track spacing on O-gauge curves to clear long equipment like scale passenger cars and articulated locos. If you had scale curves and scale track spacing, 4" would be more appropriate.
I've always gone with 4", but that was before I bought a Challenger and a Big Boy. They're not on the layout yet.
I expect there to be a few restrictions, and some spots where they won't be able to pass another train on a curve, but I'm not going to rebuild anything to accomadate them.
