I bought this unit NIB, but it's from 2004 or so.  Not much info out there.  I've run it for about 30 minutes max, and the traction tire came off.  I put it back on but it keeps coming off.  I've never replaced a traction tire before on anything.  I looked on eBay, and there is a large number of choices.  Does anyone know the part number, or has done this already and know the size?  It has the elasticity of a rubber band so perhaps I could use a small one or two.  Alternatively I could glue it on with super glue.

Replacing the traction tire
Your Handcar is equipped with one rubber traction tire to help the unit grip the track. Refer
to Figure 1 for the location of the traction tire. If you find that the traction tire on your
handcar becomes worn, you may replace it with Lionel part no. 600-0065-043, available at your
authorized Lionel dealer.
To replace the traction tire, simply pull off the old tire and loop a new tire around the wheel.
Be sure to position the replacement inside the groove.

Searching Lionel parts using that number with no dashes

I did some searching on the forum for traction tire cross reference.

One thread is ogrforum.com/topic/cross-reference-for-traction-tires.  A post from November 2020 included a link to Lionel's tire chart which included the engine models; unfortunately that link no longer exists.  The post does include a screen shot of a portion of that list, so it might be helpful.  A current list of traction tires on Lionel's support website is https://www.lionelsupport.com/...ENCE-LIST?quantity=1 (replace the "..." with "TRACTION-TIRE-REFER" to make the link work).  Unfortunately, it doesn't show the locomotive types that each tire fits, so it's necessary to find the part number in the engine's manual as Vernon mentioned above.

Here are a few other threads from my search:  https://ogrforum.com/topic/mth...onventional-diesels "(ogrforum.com/topic/mth-traction-tires-for-lionel-conventional-diesels). https://ogrforum.com/topic/wil...86#70693070955142686 (for Williams - some subsequent posts say that the list contains errors), https://ogrforum.com/topic/fin...oduction-locomotives (couple of interesting posts about 3D printing and use of RTV)

While not exactly a cross reference, here's a chart of MTH tires that includes the size and a list of the models that they fit:  https://mthtrains.com/sites/de...ire_Chart_020414.pdf  I'll bet that a lot of them will fit models from other manufacturers.  Some posts have mentioned that MTH tires may work better on Lionel models than parts from Lionel.  YMMV

My apologies that some of the copied links don't work.  I don't know why "..." is automatically inserted in a way that causes them not to work.
