Just think we ALMOST had N&W 173. She was intact at Roanoke in'81, when we lens'd her.  We were told by the NRHS crew that she was earmarked to be saved for the museum.  Next thing you know, the old N&W curse had struck again!  The official story we heard was that she had "gotten lost in the shuffle"....that might fly with some low information foamers, but sure doesn't fit the paradigm.  Especially after the loss of three N&W Y6 mallets in the mid '70s.  I smell a big dose of personal factors here, which may become public knowledge in my lifetime, or mebby not!

173 was sad looking in the end ....
