Can anyone tell me what people are using if they can't find the recommended 12 volt SPDT Relay??? I Goggle Searched Radio Shack and they don't have any listed. Thanks Guys TT

Try one of these: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/dksearch/dksus.dll
They all take 12VDC to the coil, but you can alter the search if you like.
They all carry 10 amps or more on the contacts.
Try this from Radio Shack, 12VDC/1A SPDT Micro Relay:
I found this one at radio shack on line (I now see the same response has been posted)

You can use a dpdt relay by using only one side. dpdt = double throw double pole
I used a couple of rs dpdt 12 vdc relays and found they chattered on ac, so you might want to get some diodes or a bridge rectfier to make dc.
I use a Z-Stuff DZ1008. Works great.

I too am trying to figure out what relays to use. Per the OGR DVD for DCS (the piece about creating a programming track), the back-shop guy says to use a GardnerBender DPDT toggle. But he doesn't advise what relay to use with it!

Altronix has an entire family of low cost and robust products. Power supplies, relays in 6, 12, and 24 volt, DIN rail mountable.
They are easy to understand, easy to wire up.
http://www.altronix.com/index....amp;model_num=RB1224 for example. 12 or 24 volt coil, two sets of form C contacts.
You might try a (variable AC or DC voltage coil ) RIB relay by Functional Devices, they are used in the HVAC industry, for controlling things with a Building Automation System. Should be able to get the one attached for around $10.
I use them on conventional ( great because of the variable voltage coil) and command insulated rail control. It is a general purpose very flexible relay. There are several versions for those into controlling things.
Variable Coil Voltage Input:
10-30 Vac or dc ; 120 Vac - 10amp ; 50-60 Hz (RIBU1C)
I am not sure if attached .pdf file works on this site so here is a link
