Was running trains tonight with WI-FI. With two separate engines at different times running roughly 35-40 mph. All of the sudden engine races to 120mph. Happened 3 or 4 times over a 30 minute running session. What would be causing this?

Accidentally tapping the speedometer wheel when intending to tap the green direction arrow or the + speed button would do it.
I have asked MTH to consider implementing a double tap of the speedometer to avoid accidental runaways. This happens far too often with an accidental glancing touch of the screen while not looking.
I found out the hard way. You can set the max speed of each loco on the speedometer.
I didn't damage anything but it sure got my attention. It was purely operator error.

I like that idea! I think we've all discovered it is far to easy to goof and set the speed to high.
I would even like to see a Max Speed in the free app. Even if it's fixed at say 40 SMPH.
There are 2 things I do with my DCS engines.
1 - Lock them in conventional neutral to prevent run-aways if the watchdog signal is missed.
2 - Set the Max Speed to 40 SMPH (remote or app).
I let my 5 yo grandson run one of my trains last Christmas with the app. When I handed him the tablet, the first thing he asked me was "Why doesn't this go all the way up". He was referring to the speedometer and the fact it was greyed out above 40. No free app for him...

Thanks - will definitely use the max speed. Not seeing a need for 120smph
