As we seem to have exhausted the topic of movies and TV shows with trains, let us do something different:  trains with movies.  I have been a fan of the moving image since age 4 (I'm 76 now).  Part of my layout reflects that love of movies.  I don't know how to add text to my photos, but I'm sure you can figure out what goes where.

Lionel gantry/Elmer Gantry.  Shirley Jones got an Oscar™ for playing Lulu, the hooker with a heart of gold.  Then she became Mrs Partridge on TV.

Sharp eyed readers know this scene from Forbidden Planet isn't in the movie but it is on the poster.  Sharper eyed readers know the girl is facing the other way.

Cary Grant is about to be attacked by a menacing Stearman in North by Northwest.

Oddjob has Mr Solo and his Lincoln in the back of his Ford pickup in Goldfinger.

The Rocketeer was an underrated Disney flick but it had Jennifer Connelly.

More Goldfinger, the best of the Bond films, IMHO.

Marilyn Monroe and Tom Ewell in a truly iconic movie moment from The Seven Year Itch.  Even if you've never been to a movie, you've seen this image.  Still looking for a Tom Ewell with a light suit and hat.

Ice Station Zebra, supposedly Howard Hughes favorite film.IMG20230223095008_BURST000_COVERIMG20230223095251_BURST000_COVERIMG20230223095335_BURST000_COVERIMG20230223095445_BURST000_COVERIMG20230223095523_BURST000_COVERIMG20230223095543IMG20230223095613IMG20230223095641

Had the Walther's Palace Theatre with a marquee that read "The Quiet Man", and several James Bond vehicles (the Aston Martin, the "Little Nellie" autogyro, and Goldfinger's Roll Royce), along with the Bullitt Mustang, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Harry Potter Ford Prefect & Knight bus, the Ghostbuster's ambulance outside the MTH Firehouse, and the B-T-T-F De Lorean have appeared on Christmas Layouts. On the old layout, under the water beneath the Marx Drawbridge were the Yellow Submarine and the Disney Nautilus, and a mermaid watching the submarine races.

Second Hand Lions cornfield, lion and house are going on my layout.  Just got to get the house kit-bashed together.   Cornfield and lion are ready to go.    The Iocane scene from "Princess Bride" will probably go in.

It is hard to say with Robby the Robot if there was that scene or not, he was re-used for decades.  Even in  Gilligans Island. That is why Stanley Kubrick destroyed all the "2001"  sets.  So they wouldn't show up in cheap movies and TV for the next 20 years.    "Forbidden Planet" is still a top Sci-Fi movie for me.

I have been doing a "Vehicles of Movies and TV" car show as my non-Christmastime module for years now, and I have enough vehicles to mix it up as much as I want.  And I have been accumulating character figures from movies and shows to go along with the cars.

Looks a lot like my collection of TV and movie vehicles, including that exact Flintstones car and Mystery Machine. But you’re one up on me in having the space to work them into layout scenes. Very fun.

I can only use a fraction of my collection at any given setup.  Other guys in my club have half-jokingly suggested that I build a second module to display more of my collection -- and I am considering it...

It is really fun.  At shows, I often get people who try and name all the shows and movies represented on my module, but as some of the movies and shows are a little obscure and cover a wide range of genres, getting them all can be rather difficult -- I have only ever had one person ever correctly get every one.

Perhaps  this thread would be less confusingly titled "Train Layouts With Movies in Them?"   Maybe more would respond & post their photos.

Around the holidays the drive-in theater owner allows the neighboring church to use his grounds to sell Christmas trees as a fund raiser. To help put everyone in the holiday spirit he shows Christmas movies on the big screen; December 20 - 24 he showed the original Miracle on 34th Street.

Meanwhile, downtown, the Godfather is stopping at Clemenza's Bakery to take home some cannolli. ("Leave the gun; take the cannolli.")

Thanks, Jim. I hadn't seen it yet (and I do get those emails everyday). I tried to order it from the link; it took me to the Roundhouse South site but I couldn't find the Clemenza car. I'll have more time this afternoon and will try again then.

This is from my 2015 Christmas layout.  My sister just died 2 months earlier unexpectedly so for my annual Christmas train party that I host for 25 family members, I put this movie of the family as a rememberance of her.

I have shots from another year showing the drivein scene presenting Gone With The Wind.  My sister was a recognized national authority on both the book and the movie, plus the Miller drive-in sign shows Gone With The Wind on it.  I did this one while she was still alive, luckily.  She LOVED it!  I'm sorry this image is small but you get the idea

Some very imaginative people and scenes in this thread!
I’ll try to tackle Dan VM’s challenge - War of the Worlds Martian ground attack vehicle (with Gene Barry); Robby the Robot from Forbidden Planet; Gort from The Day the Earth Stood Still; if the NASA stuff is from a movie, IDK which one, and no idea what the silver, treaded item is in left lower foreground, nor white and orange thing in front of War of the Worlds, and can’t discern black and red object in far right background.

Bob,

Not specifically, but I found it at a local (Richmond, VA) antique shop.  I've know I've seen others around.  FYI, it is definitely not 1/48 size, and may be even larger than 1/43.  I couldn't pass it up, however.

Hello Mayor,

I found the Corleone Importing truck on the Bay and it arrived today. It looks great on my layout if it's by itself but at 1:34 it's out of scale with all the other 1:43 vehicles I have. I have an alley behind Clemenza's (and the next-door Emilio's Italian Restaurant) where I can place it by itself and it will not only look fine but have two stops for it's olive oil delivery. Thanks for your post alerting me to the truck.

Looks good, Bob, but if you eventually decide to opt for something closer to scale, you might start with an appropriate scale vehicle and just craft your own signs. You can get printable decals, but I've had good luck just printing on inexpensive self-stick address labels, like my rebadged Smith Bros. TV & Appliance van, here depicted as I was working on it but which is now displayed next to the WS building of the same name :

Not sure if it qualifies for the topic, but my community park has a movie screen that can either display a slideshow of adverts (as depicted below) or movie trailers (currently for "The Sound Of Music" and "The Blob" (how's that for a double feature!!). I suppose there's no reason I couldn't do full-length movies, but trailers and adverts always seemed to better match the attention spans of my visitors . . . and me!

Thanks, Steve. Good idea. I hadn't thought of doing that for the "Godfather" part of my layout (I need to think ourside the box more). I did that with a 1:43 Divco milk truck rebadged for "Chamberlains Dairy," the dairy in the central PA town I grew up in where my uncle was manager. I also repurposed the Menards all-purpose building as a dairy.

Looks good, Bob! Yeah, that's exactly what I was suggesting. For the Smith Bros. piece, I just grabbed the logo from a web pic, printed it, and trimmed it to fit. You can also get the labels in transparent, so less trimming needed! I also used the technique to rebadge my trolleys:

Not perfect, but good enough as a first draft IMHO!
