Not exactly sure if this is correct forum - but here it goes

i have been running 2 independent small ovals (4 straight tracks/8 curves each)of circa 1956 BN GP7 with 5 freight cars and a 2343p F3 Santa Fe engine with 4 aluminum passenger cars

I have been using a CW 80 for one oval and a 1063 for the other oval

I am planning on building a 10’ x 10’ layout -all Fastrack - I intend to incorporate a couple of switches into the layout and a couple of accessories- rotating beacon, crossing gate - possibly 1 or 2 others

I have a feeling the 2 existing transformers will not be sufficient for planned layout

would appreciate advice on if I need a more powerful transformer- and which one

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated

Tom

I'd say you picked the correct forum.  I also think you are correct in thinking a power upgrade is in order, especially if you'd like to have the ability to power your accessories from separate sources.  Personally I like to power FasTrack switches at around 16 volts to their accessory inputs.  I like to power lighted accessories separately as well to be able to have day and night schemes and to be able to control the lights' brightness.  Assuming conventional locomotive control, that's another two controls.  That would be a total of four transformer outputs.

The postwar ZW with external instant circuit breakers is my personal choice.  If you want something more modern, the ZW-L is a more expensive option that offers traditional handles for conventional control and can also be controlled by Lionel Legacy remote controls.
