I was thumbing through “another” hobby magazine recently and saw this bit about how some trees on this layout were made using cedar shingles?  Anyone ever do this or have any other clever uses for cedar shingles?   I may be coming into possession of a large supply of scrap pieces, and figure they might be useful somehow on a future layout.  I can see maybe using pieces of them as portions of a retaining wall or as backing for vertically angled terrain.  But not sure how the tree thing would work….unless it’s simply cutting them into tiny strips and using stuff like furnace filter material.
