Hi everyone, and thanks for any input. We're visiting family at McGuire AFB. Any good train shops nearby?

About 35 miles to the east in Point Pleasant Beach is The Train Room:
It's a well stocked, pleasantly appointed store offering equipment in multiple scales including a generous selection of O. I visit the store frequently.
I believe there's also a store in the Trenton area called Trains N Things. I've never been there so I can't recommend it from personal experience although I've heard others say positive things about the place.
Good luck,
Bob
Trains and Things in Ewing has a very large stock of Lionel and MTH. Prices are low. Hours are somewhat unusual--so call before going.
Nicholas Smith in Broomal, Pa is awesome, if you are willing to drive an hour or so.
Made it out to Trains and Things. Great selection, lots to see. Picked up an MTH husky stack for $50. Owner is a very nice guy.
At McGuire AFB you are not far from the Columbus Flea market.
There is a train store in the indoor section, Columbus Trains and Hobbies, and as I recall he sells a bit of everything.
The outdoor flea market is open Thursday, Sunday, and Saturday (Thur/Sun are the primary days), and you never know what might turn up. Back when I lived in Jersey,
around '95, or so, I picked up a PW Girls Train at the flea market for $200.
That day I got out of there fast.

Heard that TRAINS and THINGS were also a top notch CC installation & repair service.
dont forget Northlandz train display north of you outside of Flemington

Check to see if they are still around. I haven't heard too amny positive things about them unless somebody else took them over.

I heartily recommend Trains n'Things in Ewing (very close to Trenton). The owner, Tony, is a class act.

Funny, I was just there yesterday with my 4 year old. It's impressive for what it is. Definitely in need some updating/upkeep/rehab on the displays.
Hi Lazy! Moved to SC from NJ ( New Egypt ) just backdoor to McQuire Air Force I did hear about the Ewing store which is basically Trenton. It did change ownership I do believe since we moved away in 07. Down the Shore, about 45-50 minutes east of McQuire is The Hobby Store in Abedeen, NJ which is up the road ( Rt34) north of the Colts Neck Area. They have a super supply, especially MTH ( trains, acessories, landscaping etc. There is also a store in Mercerville area also just outside Trenton ( Sloan Ave,West ) who has alot but overpriced in my opinion. Northlandz which someone mentioned is north of Trenton in Flemington but is really a huge, huge HO operating display ( not items for sale ) I just took the grand kids there over TurkeyDay. Great display with many ideas. Good Luck! THe SHore area in MOnmouth and Ocean Cty has numerous stores but a ride from McQuire.
