I've been on this project for the past 3 months.  Started with weaving cardboard strips with a hardboard backing (on the side of the tunnel you can't see).  Shaped it with plaster cloth then covered it with sculptomold.  For the incline portion that I am now working on I used 1/8" hardboard and bent it to fit the curvature of the incline - then screwed the hardboard into my incline supports.  I am now using sculptomold to hold the plaster rock castings I made to the hardboard backing.  I used leopard spot painting technique to get the rock coloration the way I wanted it - I was real pleased with the outcome!  For those of you that are planning to color rock formations I strongly suggest looking at the Woodland Scenics demonstration on youtube.

I would love to have some suggestions on what else I could do to improve the look of this tunnel project -

Thanx for taking a peek

Paul, your painting looks great!  But I'm equally impressed by the oil depot that you have setup in the foreground. Nice.

Tomlinson - that oil depot is one of my prized structures - I built the building on the left using a Korber kit - the oil tanks on the right was a structure that I found on either e bay years ago - here is a closeup pic of the depot!
