Pingman's link is a pretty good summary with pictures of how to do it. Due to differences in vehicles, lighting them at times can be a challenge.
A search of previous threads came up with these two that may be of help to you. The threads talk about installing lights in 'Streets vehicle but same principle applies to stationary also.
