I have both types of relays that I want to use for signal control (Green to red to green) howevr, I an a novice when it comes to electrical "how to" so my question is how do I read the schematic that is on these relay units. I unferstand the A-------B is for the power and ground bit I am confused withe the 1-4-7; 2-5-8 and 3-6-9.

In the 1-4-7is the #1 the normally open connection and the #7 the normally closed connection then what is the #4 connection.

Thanks for any and all assistance and help.

If #1 is N.O. and #7 is N.C. and #4 is part of the same set of contacts then it is common to both the N.O and N.C. contacts. There are different wiring methods for doing different things, but basically you put power on the common and the N.C. contact is powered from the common when the relay is de-energized (nothing on A & B). When the relay is energized (power to A & B) the contacts switch and the N.O. contact is powered from the common. So the power output is switched from the N.C. to N.O. outputs when the state of the relay is changed.
