i will have significant portions of yard / track areas under a second level of layout such as under a "union staion" type of setup. i want to install lighting that mimics sodium lights or flourescent overhead lighting as found in some industrial applications. can you point me towards some LED's / fixtures i can use? also , would i be able to wire said lights in series and conect to one ACC port on an AIU?

I hope someone will double check me on this. How about LED strip lights or LED three light sets. I think I would favor the three light sets. You can get them in either warm or cool white. Maybe a combination of white and yellow would work but I am not sure I have ever seen yellow LEDS. Check eBay. Very inexpensive.
The strip lights would be the cheapest. They are in sets of three that you can cut to any multiple of three. They would require 12v DC, but not a big problem
yes, i saw those while doing an ebay search. so if i use one resistor at the beginning , i can run many of those in series? i plan on making small "sodium light" type industrial fixtures that hang down from the overhead. or can i just wire them up as is. i was thnking about using one of those small voltage regulators so i can dim if desired
As long as you keep the strips in multiples of three leds you don't need any resistors, but you need 12v DC. They have cut marks between every trio.
The groups of three are wired in parallel right on the strip. A current-limiting resistor is built into each group.
if they are wired into an AIU channel , that should be good?
