I remove all the sidewalks and make my own out of MDF. Lionel buildings provide a brick filler strip to cover the sidewalk gap. For MTH buildings just drill holes in the MDF where the pegs are. If you ever get Walther buildings you can do the same but they have tabs which requires slots in the mdf. I cut the mdf to fit under the whole building plus the width of the sidewalk rather than just a strip in front of the building.

I remove them and depending on building, make another raised section that fits inside the building. This piece becomes the interior floor, can fill a gap to prevent light along lower edge of buildings(as seen in photo)  and also locates the building to a specific spot.image

Did you keep your bases or toss them? I need a base that fits the MTH building that has the red and white striped awning. If you have one you want to sell let me know. Thanks

I'm pretty sure I still have them. I can check but it will probably be a few weeks before I can do so.

Send me an e-mail in a couple of weeks as a reminder, if you still need them.

I'll be happy to give you the base.
