Does anyone know what year(s) it was produced? Interesting piece to be sure.

Portland Rose; To be sure, this is not a regularly cataloged piece made by A.C. Gilbert. This appears to be cobbled together from various other Flyer steamers by someone with some machining skills and tools..
That loco is made by splicing two NYC Hudson 4-6-4 locos together. The tender is two Hudson tenders spliced together. I hope he used strong epoxy. This loco was not made by American Flyer past or present. Ed L.
I'll agree it's a big engine, but that's about it.
Esthetics is a different matter. Other than wheel arrangement, it bears no resemblance to a UP 4-12-2:
If ol' A.C. would've made a UP 4-12-2, it would've looked a lot more like the prototype.
