mostly lionel and MTH O gage. Should I lubricate the axles and wheels? light oil? medium ? Thanks

do they need oil? cars very seldom need oil. if you have metal on metal one light drop. metal on plastic only if they squeak and then one half drop of light oil.

imo and in my experience.
