Is anyone familiar with the American Flyer "Accessory Pack" # 121811?  It came in a cardboard box (imprinted with the set number and engine and car numbers) and included the 21085 loco and tender, permanently attached, and a block of wood between engine cab and tender. Also included were All Aboard-boxed cars #s 24516, 24549, 24569, and 24533, and these were individually shrink wrapped.  Last were a smoke accessory kit and some typical 1960s instructions.

My belief is that it was from around 1966 or so and was available to add to already-existing All-Aboard panel train sets.

That set is documented in Robert Tuft's Set Guide. There is one difference, the observed Accessory Packs, as this set was called, have the 24316 Mobilgas tank car, not a 24516 NH flat car. The 24516 was last made in 1959 and all have KC's, not Pikemaster. Perhaps just a typo? The sales date is listed as 1968, which would be after the bankruptcy. It was the only set sold in 1968. The date stamp on the observed set boxes is 9/1968. The 121811 boxed sets were assembled and sold by the AC Gilbert Company as part of their effort to liquidate inventory and pay off creditors in the bankruptcy process. The box number is B4N894R and it measures 16.75"x9"x8.5". The manufacturer of the box was Rite Box, which is unique to the 121811 set.

I have the 1st edition from 1999, it is long out of print. The ISBN is 0-9675592-0-0. The complete title is "The Almost Complete Guide To American Flyer S Gauge Sets", by Robert J. Tufts. It may be available from online sellers and there is at least one site that will apparently allow a PDF download with a membership. Just search on the title. Is one of these sets listed for sale on eBay?
